Tailored Brands is a leading omnichannel menswear retailer, which provides custom-fit garments through its portfolio of leading brands, including Men’s Wearhouse, Moores, and Jos. A. Bank.
For decades, customers across North America have visited these stores to purchase suits, formalwear, and business casual attire, with teams of associates and tailors on hand to measure customers. However, following long-term social distancing measures due to Covid-19, Tailored Brands feared that customers would face difficulty returning to manual measuring processes and saw an opportunity to deliver a new and engaging digital experience that automated the body data collection process.

Implementing contactless body measuring
When stores began to re-open, it was imperative to adjust processes in-store to ensure both store associates and customers felt safe. As a global retailer, Tailored Brands also needed to overcome any possible cultural concerns related to the traditional measuring process. Additionally, they needed to combat any challenges that less-experienced associates might have had with the measuring process.

Feedback from store associates reports that 85%+ of the measurements out of more than 30,000 scans are accurate within 1 size of the garment. After the success of the first 100 stores, Tailored Brands expanded 3DLOOK’s solution to 330+ stores, including the flagship concept Next-Gen store and Moore’s stores. Additionally, the body data collected through the anonymized scans provide interesting insights around shape and measurement distribution throughout different states, which Tailored Brands can use when assessing their offerings. For example, the data shows that 65% of the scanned customers were of oval and trapezoid body shape, suggesting an opportunity to focus on separates.
