3DLOOK, provider of 3D mobile body scanning technology for the apparel industry, unveils the latest 3D body scanning lab, which aims to provide the most comprehensive set of unique body data points to fashion brands and retailers.

The lab aims to help the data science and R&D team in collecting unique body measurement and shape data of over 1M data points per scan, which includes measurements, textures and positions.

The data would be useful in conducting highly specialised research on each specific body part and train the neural network and ML algorithm to achieve higher accuracy.

Moreover, the lab will also allow in creating custom body measurement solution that would deliver accurate size and fit recommendation of apparels and also the company will expand its focus to other new segments including intimates or swimwear.

“This is a huge step in empowering apparel companies in different verticals with size and fit recommendations. The scanning lab allows us to ‘see through clothes’ and optimise the algorithm: our suite of solutions processes the photos of a fully dressed customer to assess the pressure of bras on a body, and then adjusts fit recommendations accordingly,” said Alex Arapov, Co-founder and CPO, 3DLOOK.

3D body scanning lab leverages the use of depth sensors to make a digital copy of the human body and extracts 100+ data points. These points are then used to train the neural network and improve the algorithm behind 3DLOOK’s body measurement solutions to minimise discrepancy while measuring customers contactless.
